Volodymyr Groysman pledges the Gov't main goal to cross average wage threshold UAH 10,000

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, within the framework of a policy to achieve sustainable economic growth and raise social standards, has set an objective to improve average earning of full-time employee from the current UAH 7,400 up to UAH 10, 000. This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman on air of The ICTV channel in the Freedom of Speech program.

He stressed that economic growth rate for next year is forecast at 3%. However, the adoption of effective managerial decisions will afford this figure to grow.

"Upswing of the economy shall affect budgets, wages and incomes towards increase," assured Volodymyr Groysman.

In his opinion, a decent level of remuneration in Ukraine will allow the skilled personnel to return to Ukraine.

"That is why we have planned apart from raising the minimum wage in 2018 also raising average salary. The current average showing is UAH 7400. These are wages upon which taxes are levied. The task for 2018 - not less than UAH 10,000. Our main goal is to up the average salary from which taxes be paid to UAH 10,000. I will focus on this issue," stressed Volodymyr Groysman.

Background

Since the beginning of 2017, the minimum wage has been fixed at UAH 3,200. Meanwhile, for 10 consecutive months, average wage level stably exceeds the minimum twofold. At that, according to the data of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, as compared to 2016 showings the growth rate makes up 35-37%.
