Volodymyr Groysman assures the year of 2018 be the time for further economy upturn, industry development and citizens' incomes growth

A Government policy aimed at economic boost will allow the country to trigger in 2018 the development of industry, to establish new enterprises and to provide an increase of the average wage up to UAH 10 thousand. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman stressed today, February 2, in Kyiv region, in the framework of his trip to an enterprise of light industry.

When talking to the employees of one of the enterprises of the branch, the Head of Government drew attention to the fact that light industry had entered the list of industries being the engines of economic development. The task is to develop this potential and open up opportunities for such enterprises to incorporate new technologies, create new jobs. One of the steps in this direction is the adoption of the recently submitted package of 35 economic bills stipulating for the protection of businesses, opening access to resources, promotion of innovations, etc.

"I would like Ukraine to produce more goods, increase salaries. I think that the average wage should be about UAH 10,000 this year," stressed the Head of Government. "This is the beginning ... It is vital for us while adopting decisions and laws to create conditions for the development of entrepreneurship."

Background

The light industry of Ukraine enumerates more than 2.3 thousand enterprises, over 80 thousand employees. Throughout last two years the industry has built up its capacities. Thus, the growth of capital investments in the industry amounted to more than 24%, while export growth was 43%. Total output raised by 6.3% in 2017. The volume of sales made up to UAH 23 billion. Ukraine exports to 150 countries.

The Government fully supports the resources of light industry enterprises to be invested in deep modernization, the development of human resource potential and the introduction of innovations. One of such decisions was the introduction of VAT payment installment plan for the period of up to 24 months for the import of equipment starting January 2018. The incentive was aired by the Head of Government in June of 2017.
